Everything you need to know to start planning for your travel to the Rwenzori Marathon

The Rwenzori Marathon takes place in Kasese, in Western Uganda.

Kasese is an 8 hour drive from Kampala or Entebbe (the international airport). Alternatively, it is a 6 hour drive (excluding border crossing time) from Kigali to Kasese. As you plan for your trip, keep in mind this travel time.

The start for the 21 km, 10 km and 5 km is in Kasese town center. The 42 km will start at the Equator. We will be providing buses from Kasese town to the Equator for runners.

The arena and finish area is on Stanley Street in Kasese town. We recommend you stay within an hour of Kasese town, as the start is set at 6:30 am (to shelter runners from some of the heat of the sun).

Book your flight to Entebbe (Uganda) or Kigali (Rwanda)

If you're coming from neighbouring countries, car or bus is also an option.

Fly, rent a car or take a bus to Kasese

You can drive via Fort Portal or Mbarara to reach Kasese. Both offer beautiful landscapes.

Book your stay in Kasese

Kasese offers both budget and luxury accommodations. We recommend using a travel agent to book. See some options below.
